The flagship of the Collection. A blank, individually numbered notebook, made in South Africa, produced once a year and never reprinted. The value is not what is printed inside; nothing is printed inside. The value is the object.
One thousand individually numbered copies. Made in South Africa. Produced once. No reprints.
An object to be used, not an archive to be read.
A blank notebook. Nothing more, nothing less. Good paper, considered binding, numbered 1 to 1000, built to be carried, marked, folded, written in and worn out. Closer to a watch release than a book release: you are not buying words, you are buying the object, its craftsmanship, its scarcity, and the ritual of keeping one for a year.
Every edition is made in South Africa, by local craftsmen and manufacturers, from sustainable, low-impact materials. The people behind it are named under Makers. The object should last as long as what you write in it.
Each year Notes evolves: a new cover, a new theme, a new artist, a new paper stock, a new material, a new South African maker. Notes 2027, then 2028, 2029, 2030. Produced once, never again. Over time the annual edition becomes collectible, and the people who own the full set become part of the story.
The 2027 edition is open for preorder. One thousand numbered copies, and 43 are already spoken for. Reserve your number now; your copy is confirmed and payment arranged before the 1 December release.
No payment is taken on this page. You will receive confirmation, an invoice and shipping details before release. Live conversions are indicative. Card payments are charged in ZAR at checkout; crypto on request. Journal subscribers are notified first.
